Dr Patricia Dahia
Patricia L. Dahia, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and Cancer Therapy and Research Center at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). Her research interests are the study of pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas as model systems to study genetic heterogeneity in cancer and the intersection between oncogenic and metabolic pathways. She has been involved in the identification of multiple cancer susceptibility genes including PTEN, SDHB, KIF1b, TMEM127, HIF2A/EPAS1, H3F3A. On the translational level, studies stemming from these discoveries have defined new paradigms for genetic testing and surveillance of at-risk individuals. She is a founding member of the Pheochromocytoma-Paraganglioma Research Support Organization (PRESSOR).
